For the Beef:

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger

For the Stir Fry Sauce:

  • 1/3 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup water

Vegetables:

  • 2 1/2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon oil (vegetable or avocado oil recommended)

Instructions

Step-by-Step Cooking Directions

  1. Marinate the beef
Combine beef slices, cornstarch, soy sauce, sesame oil, and ginger in a bowl. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Make the stir fry sauce
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, cornstarch, and water. Set aside.
  3. Cook the broccoli
Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a wok over medium-high heat. Add broccoli and stir fry for 2–3 minutes until tender-crisp. Remove and set aside.
  4. Stir fry the beef
Add more oil if needed. Increase heat to high. Add beef in a single layer. Sear for 1–2 minutes per side until browned but not overcooked. Remove from pan.
  5. Combine all
Add garlic to the wok, sauté for 30 seconds. Return broccoli and beef. Pour in sauce and stir to coat everything evenly. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens.
  6. Serve hot
Best served over steamed rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds or green onions if desired.
